Crash The Pepsi IPL Ads, In my style!!

For a Cricket loving Nation like India, besides the normal Seasons of Summer, Winter and Rainy,
there are two other seasons that have to be counted. The Cricket World Cup Season, and the IPL Season.
Like every Season has its own characteristics, these two sports seasons also have their own characteristics. In the World Cup season , one often sees different traits like High temperatures (may or may not be related to whether), High anxiety & perspiration levels (especially during India Pakistan matches) , Some Dizzy Spells (like when the team drops a crucial catch ) or the Soothing breeze of a kick ass Ad (remember the Mauka Mauka ads?).

Then comes the IPL Season, bringing slight respite to the highly charged "We have to Win" environment. After all , just like a competition between siblings, finally whichever team wins, the Cup comes to the same family. Here that family is our Country India.

I.P.L gives cricket lovers a chance to kick back & just enjoy the game. They can just Relax at home, Pop open a chilled drink (Pepsi? ;)) , put their feet up, get lost in the game and watch and enjoy the occasional Commercial Ads. Now who can ignore these Ads? .They have some way or another to get your attention. Either they are so good that you enjoy them or they are so bad that you cannot stop yourself from commenting on them.

Either way, We the viewers have unconsciously formed a rough vision, or an idea in our heads of what their perfect Ad should be and like to watch those kinds of ads more than others. Now Pepsi IPL has added another Fun factor into that equation. The  #CrashThePepsiIPL Activity, where we the common people can make our own ads and the winner gets  featured on TV between the IPL matches. What an exciting way, of letting the viewers watch the Ads they may want to see, the perfect ad they may visualize. An Ad by the viewers, for the viewers. (:p)

Not only that , we bloggers can #CrashThePepsiIPL in our own style by watching these Ads uploaded and talk about them!! Watch an Ad, and comment on them? Every Ad viewing Indians wish at some point or the other. ;)

There are some Ads that you just cannot Forget, Some ads that you can easily forget, or even do not recollect having watched, then there are some, that you wish you had not watched.
Here are a few ads from the vast number of entries uploaded for #CrashThePepsiIPL , that got the wheel in my head spinning.. .

1) Served

I clicked on this video looking at the thumbnail of some mouth watering Indian dishes, wondering whether this will be an Ad featuring  someone Eating this food while drinking their favorite Pepsi. But when I watched the video, I was pleasantly surprised to see that it perfectly captures the Diversity of India & also the various IPL Teams, in such a tasteful (pun intended) manner. No dramatic dialogues, no excessive visuals, no problems of acting and getting it just right, It hits just the right spot.
This is what they say:
"Whatever may be the food, whichever may be the state, there is one thing common , A glass of Pepsi , with Every Plate ! "

2)

This Ad also works along the same concept of diversity in India. There is always something in common, to connect two people. Or in this case, some very competitive looking couples from different parts of India. The Punjabi woman seems to be taking this Food fight quite seriously up to the point of making faces at the southern couple. I found this to be give a slight comic effect to the Ad. Finally at the end of the food exhibition, when they find out their common interest , that one thing that gives them a reason to smile at each other, the Common Pepsi, I just want to say to them..."Why are you just displaying all that food? Just open the bottles & Dig in!!".

3)Living It:

I do not know , what it is about this Ad, that caught my attention, but I instantly liked it. May be it is because of the myriad uses of Pepsi bottles and cans shown, and how each is used to show various ambitions, emotions and ways of Living . I just liked the simplicity and use of situations to show this.

4)Desire:

I can only say, the Ad has been shot really well. We can actually see, each person reacting to the sound of the Pepsi bottle opening and wanting to just chug it down.

The simple yet nicely put concept: "Its hard to resist the Temptation of a delicious drink like Pepsi.!" Also I found the Yoga instructors expression in the end giving it a much needed comic relief.

5)Superstition wala pepsi

This Ad has made this list, not because of its brilliant concept, or nice acting, or comic timing. I am writing about this, because the maker of this video was able to get me to watch this video multiple times. Why do you ask? Because it took me around two attempts at watching it, to understand what they were trying to show here.

First time I watched, I saw two guys in the room, one sitting on sofa and other standing at the door. Suddenly the one standing makes a sign language kind of action to the other fellow, and both of them run down the stairs and to the shop, while squashing a bug (or what looked like a weird bug). They get a Pepsi, get back into the room and then open the bottle.
I then saw the title, Superstition. wondering if i missed something I watched it Again, to notice that , one of the guys, "Sneezed" while getting out of the room. and then I guess the crushing of Bug counts.
I am still not sure what they are trying to say here. I guess, you have to be superstitious to drink Pepsi? Umm, guess you have to be superstitious to even understand this Ad. They could have explained it a bit more.

Imagine you're an alien and you find out about the Earth solely based on ads...

//Disclaimer: I do not own any of the images or videos posted in this blog post. I have got them from You tube, Blogadda and google search. The rights are reserved by their endorsing companies.//

Advertisements are a part and parcel of the daily life. Now a days, anywhere you go, it may be possible that you do not find mobile network coverage, you may not find proper electricity all day long, you may not find  proper water supply in India, but it is assured that you will definitely find advertisements in some form or the other.May it be a poster or billboard or radio or TV. Advertisements just find a way to creep into the lives and subsequently, even the sub conscience of people who watch them. Then why should Aliens be left out of this equation?

Recently with the release of "P.K." the movie, the concept of how an alien would perceive Earth and those living upon it has become widely intriguing.
I began to Imagine what would it be like, if I was an alien who wished to visit Earth for the first time.

But I imagine the scene going quite differently from what was shown in any movies or books.
Surely if I am a species intelligent enough to find out about and reach Earth, a whole different planet, I would make sure to research and prepare first before barging right into any one inhibiting the planet. What if they all turned out to be cannibals or Alien eaters? or something worse?
I sure as hell would not want anyone to know that I am from another planet, lest they capture me and use me as a lab rat.
To make sure that does not happen, those of us who desired to explore earth, would have to undergo training and tests on basis of which, it would be decided whether we know enough about the inhabitants to survive without being discovered among them.
We would be provided with various videos from our ASRO (Alien Search & Research Organization), a satellite that seemed to have picked up some signals of something called "Ads" from earth . Some from a specific place called India, as we found out.
After watching a lot of Ads and studying and trying to understand them , I would be ready to answer any questions that are flung my way. Here would be some things I learned only on basis of the advertisements I watched:

1)Dogs run behind Cars because they want to drive.
Some Dogs, run behind Cars because they want to Drive it but cannot find their desired brand (probably with the special smell on the tyres). They want a car so bad, that they run behind every car probably to ask if the owner is interested in selling their car second hand. They get tired in the process. But there is one smart dog, probably their Boss who has found a shortcut to do so without all the energy wasting. He found a website where he bought a second hand car without having to run behind and sniffing his favorite kinds of tyres. He gives other dogs lift in his car. Soon all the dogs will learn from him and stop chasing cars.

Here is the real life example: (Car Dekho .com)

2) Certain Toothpaste companies care so much about your toothaches that can do any dare devil acts to reach you when you are in pain.
Humans have various types of dental problems. Like humans need salt in their diet, to keep them healthy, human teeth & gums also need certain ingredients to keep them healthy.
1) If your gums/teeth hurt any time of the day, maybe in a coffee shop, or in a cinema hall, or even the closed quarters of your bathroom...these Representatives/Reporters/Actors, will leave no stone unturned to reach you right then asking if your toothpaste has Salt in it. (Kya aapke toothpaste mein namak hai?)  (view the heroic representative in the ad below)(Seems like she did not even waste time to find a parking spot outside , lest he may faint with all the pain.)

(Colgate Active Salt)
2)They even have made a tunnel from their dental clinic to your bathroom mirrors, which seems to open to the password :"Yellow teeth". and Out stumbles a beautiful representative asking if your tooth paste has Lemon and Salt. Perhaps its time to rinse with this toothpaste. Or you could just add water and sugar and offer her the beverage of "Neembu Paani" for her troubles...

3) Human Females are attracted to Men on basis of how they smell.
Like any species of animals on earth, even Human Females seem to have the tendency of judging the opposite sex through their nose. Age, Weight, Height, Intelligence, Character, No Bar. He must just smell good. Not just smell good. Sometimes he should smell like their favorite food. Aka. Chocolate (Yummy!)!! There are a number of brands that have launched the deodorants that seem to turn even the most sensible lady into a blubbering brain dead . Its perhaps the Pied piper effect that seems to be luring all the women behind this Man drenched in deodorant.

Axe (Chocolate Man)
Perhaps they will soon be launching "Butter Chicken" or " "Paneer Tikka masala" or " Ice Cream " flavored (*:Smelling") deodorants. For those ladies who just love their Indian food.

4) Girls Need not be educated, smart or even qualified for a new job or position or to be popular and achieve something, she just needs to be Fair .
What kind of fair you ask? The kind which can be used as a luminescent at night to view things in the dark. Not Fair, its just Not Fair enough!!!

And thus got Sealed, the friendship Deal...

Its funny how its often the little things in life, that mean the most . When we look back into our memories, its not the big degree we got in college, or the great target we achieved at work that matters. Its the little things like an appreciative word from a teacher, or the little sign of support from a friend that makes our heart glow warm. Our heart, besides being the multi-functional blood pumping machine that it is , is also a giant sucker for attention. Its like it has all these little hidden magnets which pull and hold on to the most myriad collection of bizarre emotions and feelings. Anything from, a passing smile when we are down, or a  kind word ,to small obligations given habitually can make our heart feel happy.

Sometimes it just does not make sense but as they say, "The Heart wants What the Heart wants". This is a story of one such incident where i listened to what my heart was telling me and struck a 'Dil ki Deal.'
It was a few years ago, when i had just started the First year of my professional college. It was a different world for all of us newbie engineering students. I was a little less then Psyched though, the reason was that none of my higher secondary friends were in the same college. I am a person that takes some time to open up to people and that often gives people the wrong idea that I am a reserved or a snob. Needless to say this was also the case in college.

I used to hang out with a bubbly talkative girl named Karen, i had met her in 12th Std tuition classes so it was like a relief for both of us to have found a familiar face. With her outgoing personality she was quick to make many friends. Among those was a group of boys Sahish, Maddy, Tayyab, Prashant and Satyam. As our class was same and Karen being my friend, I often ended up hanging out with them. I remember that i often was disapproving towards their lack of discipline and irritated at their teasing and jokes. They even fought with me sometimes for petty reasons like the bus window seat and so on.

It was a normal day in college. Grasped in the hustle bustle of the lectures, thinking about lab practicals etc. There was sometime before the start of the next lecture. Suddenly I saw that the guys had started hustling and having mock fights near the head of the class.
I saw a hand smack the other, and a book went flying and fell into the dustbin, its cover in tethers just as the strictest professor entered the class. Seeing the book and in fumes, he started scolding the everyone present there. Although as he had not seen who had actually thrown the book, he could not punish any one.I dint say anything, no one said anything. After he left, i heard a group of girls nearby saying that it was one of the guys (my group) who had done it , and that they were very stupid. I don't know till now, why I said it or What made me say it. I just turned to them and Said "Innocent till proven Guilty" which instantly shut them up. This was the first time I had sided with them, and I saw them looking at me giving a weird look. Of course they must have expected me to rat on them or taunt them at their stupid action. But I did not. I had taken a decision , not the brightest, to stand with them.

I do not know, if that action , that day had anything to do with the fact that we all became good friends , but it was the day that I realized that  even if my mind had not registered it fully, my heart had accepted them as one of my own. I was already a part of the group of these stupid, idiotic yet wonderful guys as I found out soon enough, that they are really good people with nice hearts.

Now well past the Engineering college days, each leading their lives, I remember them fondly as my crazy, stupid but wonderful friends. That decision marked an important time in my life. Where I made friends with such incredible people, who even along with my quirks, accepted me as a part of their group and life. A deal was struck that day, a deal of friendship. A true Dil ki Deal.
